Q: Who can use the food bank?
A: Residents of Lisbon, Durham, and Bowdoin can use the food bank. Proof of residency will be required such as a current utility bill or license. Basic eligibility requirements will also have to be met.
Q: How often can I use the food bank?
A: Individuals and families can visit the pantry once a month. LACO seeks to be a supplement for the family. Availability of items will vary.
Q: I am handicapped and cannot make it to the food bank. Can someone else pick food up for me?
A: Special arrangements can be made. Please call.
Q: Who can use the clothing bank?
A: The clothing bank is open to anyone and you are asked to only take the clothing items that you need so others can also be helped. Items available are changed to meet seasonal needs.
Q: How can I get assistance with fuel?
A: Through this program, heating assistance is provided to those in need with a once a year grant. Please try for assistance through your town office first. If you do not qualify for General Assistance, a copy of your General Assistance denial will be required. You will have to apply each year if your need continues.
Q: I burn wood. Can I still get assistance?
A: Fuel assistance can be used towards heating oil, propane, wood, electricity, or any other means in which one heats their residence.
